Built to Replace a Critical Platform, Just in Time
Combined Agents of America had weeks to replace the analytics system their entire network depended on. Modernize designed and built ProfitLens from scratch — on time, for a live audience of 82 agencies and every carrier partner.

Rather than attempting to acquire or patch what existed, this was the chance to develop something purpose-built for how the network actually operates. That's exactly what we did.
Combined Agents of America runs one of the largest independent insurance agency networks in the country: 82 agencies across 10 states, collectively managing over $1 billion in P&C premium and nearly $90 million in annual profit-sharing distributions.
The platform they depended on to manage all of it was shutting down. The analytics system CAA used daily to track carrier relationships, monitor agency production, and distribute profit-sharing revenue was ceasing operations within weeks. The lead investor in the outgoing platform himself advised against trying to acquire or salvage the legacy codebase. Three systems, fragmented data, manual workflows, and over $100K/year in infrastructure costs — CAA needed a replacement, fast.
We ran four discovery sessions with CAA leadership before writing a line of code. The goal was to understand how the network actually operates — not to map requirements onto a generic platform template. What emerged was ProfitLens: a unified system that replaces three disconnected tools with one.
Carrier data from dozens of distinct report formats now ingests automatically, with discrepancies flagged for review rather than silently accepted. The compensation distribution workflow — previously fragile enough that a single incorrect entry forced a complete re-upload across all 82 agency codes — now validates inline. Five years of historical data was preserved and migrated. The hard deadline was the CAA Summer Series in July 2026, where all 82 agencies and every carrier partner would be in the room. That’s what we built toward.
