"A DevOps Transformation That Needed a Partner, Not a Vendor"

A Fortune 500 telecom infrastructure provider's CI/CD couldn't move fast enough for the business. Over 2.5 years, Modernize stabilized and expanded the platform as primary partner, not supporting cast.

core challenge
CI/CD that couldn't scale with the pace and complexity of the business

The company operates one of the largest shared communications infrastructure networks in the United States. At that scale, how fast engineering teams build, test, and deploy isn't an operational detail. It's a strategic constraint. Their environment couldn't support the pace and complexity the business required.

TAWS and Kubernetes. Seven languages deployed as microservices and Lambda, including Java, Python, Go, and multiple Node and Next.js variants, each with its own supporting CI/CD pipeline. GitHub, Sonar, Nexus, Lifecycle, and Jira, all orchestrated through Harness.

Our work spanned the CI/CD platform, Terraform infrastructure, base container images, system integration, and custom CLI tooling that glued GitHub, Harness, Sonar, Jira, Lifecycle, and Nexus together.

Modernize took this on as primary Harness partner: stabilizing and scaling the CI/CD platform, integrating it across the provider's toolchain, and building the custom tooling that made the environment work end-to-end. This wasn't advice from the sidelines. We rebuilt the delivery framework for scale.

Security was a gap. The environment had no container security in place, so we drove the move to scan and harden containers, and pushed broader security improvements across the platform.

The result: a platform with stronger integration, visibility, security, and automation end-to-end. Engineering teams now move faster, with CI/CD that grows with the organization instead of constraining it. The constraint that started this engagement is gone.

The Problem
CI/CD that couldn't support the pace and complexity of an enterprise at scale
Multiple disconnected systems with no unified integration across the delivery toolchain
Critical gaps between systems bridged only by brittle, makeshift scripting
No container security and limited scanning across the build process
Our Approach
Stabilized and scaled the platform as primary transformation partner, from strategy through delivery
Integrated systems across the full delivery toolchain for unified visibility and automation
Developed custom CLI tooling to bridge those gaps and make the environment work end-to-end
Drove container hardening and security improvements into the delivery workflow
